DVD of your Swim
I want a record of my swim;
I want to photograph my kid swimming;
I want to show mum I can swim butterfly;
I want to see what the teacher sees;
I want to see what I am doing wrong
One of the advantages of the endless pool is that underwater video cameras can be used to record what the swimmer is actually doing.
The cameras can be placed in different positions to see how legs, arms, hands and body positions affect the technique and efficiency of the stroke. This can then be watched and reviewed with the teacher in safety by the swimmer during the lesson on a special 12v waterproof TV installed for the purpose.
A DVD can be a memento of that first time you actually swam, floated alone, swam a particular stroke (butterfly?) or a record of what particular technique you need to work on and costs £5.
The advantage of the DVD is that it can be paused, slowed down into individual elements of the stroke, sped up and rewound. This helps both the swimmer and teacher see the detail of what is actually happening. This is used in swim stroke analysis to help the swimmer swim better.
For parents this is a good way of keeping a record of your kids success as you cant take photos in public baths anymore. Adults may find it useful as a record of success or to help them review their progress in the comfort of your own home. For those with special needs a record of success may be even more encouraging. If you are a triathlete, this record for later review can be a good use of your packed training time.
